Noni Cheese Fruit Tree (morinda citrifolia)

A tree in the coffee family it is commonly known as Indian mulberry. Growing up to 30 feet tall, Noni has large, simple, dark green, shiny and deeply veined leaves and is able to bear fruit 9 months to 1 year after planting. In its natural habitat it bears flowers and fruit year round. At first green, the fruit turns yellow then almost translucent white as it ripens. This species is commonly cultivated as a dye plant as the bark of the Morinda produces a brownish-purplish dye for batik-making. In Hawaii, yellowish dye is extracted from its roots to color cloth.
