Kona Coffee Bush (coffea arabica)

Imagine truly fresh coffee… Arabica thrives in the humid tropics where rainfall is regular, abundant and a short, dry season helps to facilitate flowering and pollination. Arabica finds its origins in Ethiopia and now makes up almost 90 percent of the worlds coffee crops. A glossy leaved evergreen shrub growing to about 15 feet at full maturity will sport white fragrant flowers that generally open simultaneously within a week or two from appearing. Fruit begins green and slowly ripens to a crimson red when ready for harvesting. The seed inside these fruits is extracted, roasted and ground to produce one of the world’s oldest and most globally consumed beverages.
