Illawarra Flame Tree (brachychiton acerifolium)

Show stopping vivid, scarlet bells hang in profusion, glowing flame red from the ends of stems during its leafless stage in late spring. 5 partially fused petals make up the small bell flowers that slowly transform to wide, boat shaped seed pods. The pods are covered in hitch hiking bristles and filled with cool yellow seeds. The ornamental leaves closely resemble those of a maple tree giving the tree a superior ornamental appeal. Once this amazing tree becomes established, in its container or garden, it is drought tolerant and able to grow in a wide variety of soils. Now the question is, how many do you want to grow?
