Black Chebulic Myrobalan Tree (terminalia chebula)

Showy terminal spikes of white to yellow flowers burst open in an aromatic spring display. After the butterflies and hummingbirds have done their jobs the tree is laden with small ribbed edible fruit. Picked green, the fruit are pickled and preserved. Ripe fruit can be harvested for salads or frying, and the interior seeds eaten as an almond like snack. A fairly slow grower, Black Chebulic holds a special place in the hearts of many tropical gardeners for its many culinary and medicinal uses.
