Asian Climbing Rattan Palm (calamus guruba)

This slender, clumping, climbing rattan is fairly widespread in Southeast Asia and the Malay Peninsula, where it grows in the rain-forests It is frequently found semi-wild around villages and is popular for its durable canes that have a diameter of about one inch and can reach a length of about 50 feet. It can grow in tropical and some warm temperate areas and needs climbing support in the form of established trees.
